
Dr. Lowell S. Kabnick, MD, RPhS, FACS, FAVLS, DABVLM, DFAVF
Lowell S. Kabnick, MD, RPhS, FACS, FAVLS, DFAVF is a world-renowned surgeon-teacher who provides a patient-centered approach to vein care, enabling the creation and improvement of many of today’s most advanced non-invasive vascular surgery techniques. Dr. Kabnick is recognized as an international authority on the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease. His interests lie in superficial and deep venous interventions. He is highly sought after as a consultant and teacher by medical societies around the world. He was the first vascular surgeon in the United States to perform the VNUS Closure (radiofrequency ablation) and the VenaCure EVLT™ (endovenous laser) procedure; in addition, Dr. Kabnick was the investigator in the FDA phase 2 and 3 trials for Varithena™.
While Director of the New York University Vein Center (2007-2018), Dr. Kabnick and his team developed testing/treatment guidelines, efficiency standards, and established New York University as a leading academic global vein center. He is the cofounder of Phlebobridge, Vascular Strategic Partners, and Vein and Lymphatic Teaching Network. Dr. Kabnick is a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the American Venous Forum, and the American Vein and Lymphatic Society. Previously, he served as the President of the American Venous Forum, the President of the American Venous Forum Foundation, President of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission – Vein Center, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the American College of Phlebology, and the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. Presently, Dr. Kabnick serves as the Vice President of the International Union of Phlebology, Chair of the Vein and Lymphatic University, and as Associate Editor of the Journal of Phlebology.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American Venous Forum, and the American Vein and Lymphatic Society. Dr. Kabnick is board certified in surgery and venous and lymphatic medicine; he is a registered phlebology sonographer. Dr. Kabnick has authored numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and has written extensively on the topic of venous disease and treatment.
