Uldis Maurins is the president of the Baltic Society of Phlebology, past president of International Forum for Minisurgery of Varicose Veins and board member of Latvian Association of Surgeons.

Dr Maurins obtained Ph.D. degree in phlebology from the University of Bonn, Germany. Thesis supervisor was Professor Eberhard Rabe, an internationally recognized expert in phlebology.

In 2009 he set up a Dr Maurins Vein Clinic (Riga, Latvia) and at present he is director of this clinic. In 2016 Dr Maurins has been awarded a title of Prof. h.c., Benemerita University Puebla, Mexico.

Dr Maurins is an internationally recognized expert in venous laser therapy, particularly specializing in surgery and phlebology. He performs training of the phlebologists in Latvia and other countries on a regular basis.
